Messenger - Glow
This is a limited original canvas print. Sienna hand paints each of these fine art canvas prints with phosphorescent and fluorescent paint, making them glow brightly under a UV light or for a short time at night.
It comes with a magnifying glass and a certificate of authenticity which describes the numbers used in the piece. Both the art and the certificate are signed, numbered and dated.
Artist recommends purchasing this with the custom shadow box frame, which includes a UV light installed under the frame.
We use hemlock wood for the front of the frame, and pine for the sides. Stain color options available for custom glow pieces. Contact Sienna via the contact page to discuss your options.
The Eagle Nebula is a HII nebula, and is primarily composed of ionized atomic Hydrogen or HII.
The wavelength for molecular Hydrogen is 656.281, which gives the nebula a red coloring.
The majority of the main “body” is drawn with that wavelength.
These Nebulae are also composed of about 20% Helium and trace amounts of heavier elements.
HII Nebula reach upwards of 10,000 K. This data is also drawn in the main “body” of the nebula.
The Eagle Nebula is 6,500 light years away, which is the data the space around the nebula is drawn with.
The stars themselves are drawn with the speed of light, 299,792,458 m/s.
Given that this Nebula is about 6,500 light years away, we are seeing it as it was about 6,500 years ago.
According to the Spitzer Space Telescope, The Pillars of Creation were most likely destroyed
by a nearby super nova around six thousand years ago.
It will take another 500 – 1,000 years for the image of it’s destroyed state to reach us.
The majority of the “snail” part of the nebula is drawn with Jean’s Instability equation,
which expresses the parameters which cause the collapse of interstellar gas clouds and subsequent star formation.
In general, the cloud is unstable if it is either very massive at a given temperature or very
cool at a given mass for gravity to overcome the gas pressure.
It occurs when the internal gas pressure is not strong enough to prevent gravitational collapse
of a region filled with matter.
There are also some hidden lines drawn in here, which I will leave for you to find for yourself.
