Science-inspired art by Sienna Morris, drawn entirely with numbers and equations by hand. Based in Portland, Oregon, Sienna is self taught in science and art, and uses her Numberism technique to process what she's learned, illustrating the data where it lives.

She offers original work as well as fine art canvas and paper prints, and clothing of her work.

Star Stuff - Original Numberism Etching

$8,000.00

This is the original Numberism etching of "Star Stuff", etched on scratchboard with ink wash. It measures 36" x 24" and is framed and ready to hang. It is signed and comes with a hand drawn description, a certificate of authenticity and a magnifying glass.

"Star Stuff" is Sienna’s most complex piece and uses the smallest numbers. It is drawn with 37 points of data, primarily astrophysics and neuroscience. It is meant to continue to inspire her to study, despite the difficulty as she delves farther into science.

"The front of my face is drawn with a collection of questions that lead me to study (Are we alone in the Universe? What is the shape of the Universe? Is it infinite? Finite? How did consciousness emerge?...) It is followed by equations for firing neurons. Everything behind me is a collection of science I'd like to better understand, including the Einstein Field Equations, Schwartzchild radius, The Jeans Instability Equation, Hubble's Constant and more.

You see me enthralled with the Andromeda galaxy, in awe of its beauty and data, while behind me, I have yet to even see the rest of the Universe. This is where I am now in my research; the very beginning."
